Day 14: Light Tabling

Today I got a very big stack of plans and got them all light tabled. Not too exiting, but definently enjoyable work. I'll be doing more # checking and plan reviews Monday. Another great week !

Day 13: Light Table & SkillsUSA

Today I worked on a few light tabling projects for an hour then headed with Ryan Metcalf to SkillsUSA at Bartle Hall, again it amazed me. The competition is amazing, and suprisingly for being in Ks 3 years now there are 0 Kansas teams, that needs to change.

Day 12: SkillsUSA

Today I went downtown, to a competition called SkillsUSA, and I must say it is AMAZING! There are competitions from carpentry, to car repair, to web design, to culinary art, to robotics, and SO much more. I am going to work on having my school, Olathe Northwest, join the competition next year. It was a great experience, and I may be going back tomorrow as well.

INFO: MySpace at JCW

Here are a few pictures of my "office" at JCW. Comparatively it is very nice, and very roomy. The computer works great as does the phone and other tools. Check out the pics:

Pretty sweet.

Day 11: MARC Blog conference

Today I attended a MARC conference on blogging. I have been using blogging tools and blog integration for quite a while so the technology aspect of it was nothing new to me. The main topic of the conference was how blogs can be implemented into the professional environment, government and state business. It was a very interesting conference, and Ryan Metcalf, Greg Hardy, and myself will be using the information to do a presentation at JCW.

Day 10: Field Work Introduction

Today I went out with one of the Field Inspectors Lonnie Ponder. We went first to check out a problem with a manhole and service line in a new development. After figuring out a solution to the problem we headed toward another new development area to witness a plug removal. It was a very quick and easy process, but an inspector has to be on sight to make sure its done right. After the plug removal we went to see what a main line project looks like. It was very interesting to see how the large lines and manholes come together. Overall it was a very educational day.
