Day 9: Plan Review and Light Table
Today I finished up the plan reviews from yesterday and got about 7 sets of plans to light table. I finished all but 2 of the plans by 10:30 and finished the other 2 by 11. After that I just went over some data, and prepared this weeks timesheet. This completes week 2 at JCW.
Day 8: Plan Review
Today I got 2 sets of plans to review. What you do is go through check all the stationing, angle, slopes, Flows and all other numbers associated with the project. You have to be very precise. I am using a program built by a former employee to enter all the data and check the numbers from there. It makes the whole process a little bit easier.
Day 7: O&M Meeting and Plant Tour
Today I went to a monthly Operations and maintenance meeting with Matt Bond, to learn about different projects going on with he treatment plants, and how there meetings work. After the meeting matt took me on a tour of the Nelson Facility which contains 2 plants. I went threw step by step of the treatment process and saw the machinery and technology involved with treating the wastewater. I also learned that Johnson County is unique in the fact that instead of having a few larger plants we have many small and medium plants varying greatly in their technology. This is because of the way we have grown and had the need for more treatment plants and areas and at different times, different plants were built, all with different levels of technology. Today was a great learning experience for me.
Day 6: Equiptment Purchase and New Project
Today I and the new publications intern went with Troy to get boots and hard hats. I got some very nice CAT Steel Toe Boots. Yeah I know . WOW. After we got all the gear we headed got back to JCW and I got to work on some light tabling. After finishing about 4 plans on the table I was taught in a little more detail how to review plans, and I will now get started calculating slope and other details of plans to check there validity. This is another important step in the plan review process.
